Tourist Numbers Increase by More Than 10% in Both Valencia and Murcia Regions

The latest international tourist figures show that almost nine million people came to Spain in May, a rise of nearly 12 percent on the same month last year.

The Valencia region figures, which include Alicante Province, were even more dramatic with a 19 percent increase on May 2016, with over 912 thousand foreign tourists, of which 38 percent came from the UK.

The increase of international visitors to the Murcia region was more modest in May, as figures went up by three percent over a year, with the total standing at 64 thousand.

Overall though, Murcia has seen foreign tourist numbers go up by over 12 percent in the first five months of 2017, in comparison to last year’s same period.
