Ten-Storey High-Rise Construction Plans for Punta Prima Halted

Plans for several high-rise buildings in Punta Prima, which would be at least ten storeys high, have been delayed by Torrevieja council due to a site of historical interest in the area.

Councillor Fanny Serrano said that a Civil War bomb shelter needed to be excavated on the ten-thousand-square-metre site and was an important part of Torrevieja’s heritage.

She added that the authority was also looking at the legal status of a beach bar next to the site of some 19th century police barracks (pictured) at Punta Prima cove, as they believe it was operating there without appropriate permission, including going against soil erosion laws for the coast.
