El Mojon
On the South Costa Blanca, Urbanizacion Playa Diamante is literally on the award winning beach of Las Higuericas one of the longest and safest beaches in the area, next to the village of El
Mojon and situated between the market towns of San
Pedro del Pinatar and Pilar
de la Horadada. Market days are Mondays and Fridays respectively and you will find many stalls of good quality leather wear and excellent fresh produce. Both San Pedro and Pilar de la Horadada boast a selection of good Spanish restaurants and there are numerous Chinese and Indian restaurants to meet all tastes.
Next to El
Mojon towards the marina
in San Pedro port is a vast nature reserve where you
can see flamingos and a variety of other birds and
possibly the odd lizard. The nature reserve has many
different walks and vantage points to bird watch, the
reserve leads directly onto the beach of El
Mojon.
We are ever so lucky here with the terrain being very
flat which makes walking and cycling a pleasure, in
fifteen minutes cycling you are in the beautiful area
of the Mar Menor with its health restoring waters that
so many Spanish and other nationalities come to use
for their benefit. The Mar
Menor is a watersport heaven surrounded by fabulous
beaches starting where the Costa Blanca meets the Costa
Calida.
Within fifteen minutes drive you
can be playing golf on any one of 10 first class golf
courses, the local one in Pilar de la Horadada is only
five minutes drive and is one of the cheapest courses
in the area, but there are numerous courses with a
short drive throughout the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida.
The cities of Murcia with its beautiful
buildings and Cartagena ( one of the oldest cities
in Europe ) with its recently restored Roman amphitheatre
now open to the public, all within 30 minutes drive
and with the motorway ( AP7 ) only a stones throw away
from the house so everything is very accessible.
