Costa Del Sol
On the south
coast of Spain between Gibral¬tar southwest and Almeria
to the east, this coastline encompasses parts of
Malaga, Cadiz, Almeria and Granada - four of the
provinces of Andalucia, Spain's most southern community.
The beaches on the Costa
del Sol are not so wide, miles of sand,
like the Atlantic coast but never far from the
mountains and in some sections right next to them.
They generally consist of a dull sand that has
been created by the erosion of mountains. Andalucia
attracts thousands of visitors from various coun¬tries
each year? Fabulous sunshine nearly all year round:
the Costa
del Sol has an average of 300 sunshine
days a year. Because the region is protected by
an endless range of mountains, and the Sierra Nevada
east of Malaga. Tempera¬tures in the Andalucia summer months rarely go above 85f. This climate encourages a nice atmosphere; local people’s
lives changed hugely and retain a fun and happy
easy going attitude, and tourists are made to feel
very welcome.
Malaga's airport is the gateway to the Costa del Sol,
which can be divided into two, east and west of
Malaga. The better known image of the Costa del
Sol is found to the west, where development stretches
way back from the beach. In the 1st tourist rush
town of Torremolinos, with high-rise hotels and
tiny apartments blocks above the promenade and
the busy back streets are full of pubs, clubs,
discos, chip shops. The apartments around the marina
of Benal¬madena, are more attractive than its near-neighbour,
and show what can be achieved. Marbella, is very
different. The original Marbella funtown of the
1960s rich. Incorporating Puerto Banus, Marbella
can be very expensive, with it amazing restaurants
and Marbella flashness.
